ROAD SUPERVISOR

Location: Orillia, ON

First Student is seeking a Road Supervisor to join our team in Orillia. This role is ideal for a safety-focused leader with strong communication skills and experience supervising drivers in a transit or transportation environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support drivers in daily operations, including scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluations
  • Conduct on-the-scene accident investigations and assist with reporting (accident, OSHA, safety violations)
  • Deliver driver training and safety courses; retrain drivers involved in incidents
  • Observe drivers on the road and address safety concerns in real time
  • Act as a liaison between drivers, clients, and internal teams for customer service issues
  • Monitor driver compliance with safety, legal, and labor policies
  • Assist with DOT/FTA compliance, drug testing, and recordkeeping
  • Support dispatching, interviewing, and other administrative tasks as needed
  • Maintain a valid CDL and periodically operate routes

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in transit or transportation
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle operations and maintenance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure
  • Experience in HR and training is an asset
  • Must be available to work extended hours, including Saturdays
  • Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for travel within the service area

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to inspect vehicles and facilities, including bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in various environmental conditions (wet, cold, hot)
  • Capable of writing clear and legible reports
