First Student is looking for a dependable, hands-on Service Employee to join our Maintenance Department. This essential role helps ensure the safe and efficient operation of our school buses, activity buses, and commercial vehicles by supporting fueling, fluid checks, and light maintenance-both on our fleet and facility.
What You'll Do:
Open facility gates and inspect the bus yard each day to ensure all vehicles can be safely dispatched
Reposition buses in the yard as needed to maintain clear traffic flow
Accurately record fuel data, including Bulk Fuel Receiving Reports, Fuel Variance Reports, Closing Month-End Reports, and Meter Calibration Reports
Monitor fuel levels and notify the Location Manager when deliveries are needed; document stick readings before and after fuel deliveries
Check and replenish fluids such as oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and windshield washer fluid
Perform light interior and exterior cleaning and maintenance of buses
Assist with minor building and grounds maintenance
Complete additional tasks as assigned by management
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Valid driver's license (required)
Ability to work in outdoor conditions (rain, snow, heat, cold)
Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and a willingness to learn more
Strong attention to detail and reliability
Must pass a DOT physical and drug screening
Note: DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason
