Job Title: Maintenance Manager
Compensation: $52,000 - $67,000 annually, based on experience
Job Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all location maintenance operations and directly supervising shop staff. This role ensures the safe and efficient performance of fleet maintenance, provides operational visibility to the Location Manager, and drives continuous improvement in safety, cost control, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule and oversee fleet maintenance while assisting with troubleshooting equipment issues.
Communicate vehicle availability with dispatch and operations personnel.
Manage personnel-related responsibilities, including hiring, training, development, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions (with certain actions requiring higher-level approval).
Partner with the Location Manager and Regional Maintenance leadership to report on maintenance status, budgets, and financial variances.
Ensure compliance with State, Federal, and Company safety and regulatory requirements.
Review repair orders; order parts, fuel, and subcontract work as needed.
Lead efficiency and cost-reduction projects.
Ensure maintenance technicians are trained, equipped, and motivated to deliver safe and effective performance.
Oversee fueling operations and coordinate facility/grounds maintenance as needed.
Perform hands-on maintenance work as required.
Complete special projects and assignments as directed.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).
Possess a valid CDL Operator's License with required endorsements.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on mechanical supervisory experience.
ASE Certification in Brakes (required).
Ability to train entry-level diesel technicians.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with computers and maintenance systems.
Industry experience with diesel engines and school bus equipment preferred.
Must be able to lift 20-50 lbs and work in crouched or prone positions under vehicles.
Work Conditions
Full-time, 7:00 AM start time in a maintenance shop environment.
Exposure to dust, dirt, grease, and standard mechanical shop conditions.
