Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Lead Diesel Mechanic to oversee and perform maintenance on a fleet of 24 school buses at our Lake Charles location. This position operates independently, managing all aspects of fleet maintenance and shop operations to ensure safe and efficient transportation for local students.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on diesel buses

  • Managing maintenance schedules and keeping accurate service records

  • Ordering parts and maintaining shop inventory

  • Ensuring compliance with DOT, state, and company safety standards

  • Overseeing all aspects of daily shop operations

  • Collaborating with location management to support operational goals

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of diesel or automotive repair experience (school bus or fleet preferred)

  • Valid driver's license required (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain; training provided)

  • Prior experience in a lead technician or supervisory role preferred

  • Must provide own basic mechanic's tool set

  • Willingness to participate in ASE certification program (company-paid)

  • Must meet all DOT safety and drug testing requirements
