Dispatcher - Abington Public Schools (Abington, MA)

The Dispatcher is responsible for overseeing all routes and scheduling of buses, ensuring on-time performance, and providing day-to-day support to drivers and monitors.

Dispatcher Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all bus routes and schedules to ensure on-time performance and operational efficiency

  • Dispatch and communicate with drivers, monitors, and operations staff daily

  • Counsel and coach drivers and monitors on front-line performance and customer service expectations

  • Handle heavy phone and radio traffic in a professional and timely manner

  • Serve as the primary communication liaison between the operation and our contracted customers

  • Take all scheduling and driver concerns and report them to the Operations Supervisor or Contract Manager

  • Provide proactive solutions to route, drop-off, and pick-up challenges

  • May handle charter reservations, billing, or driver payroll as assigned

  • Assist with special projects and provide back-up coverage for operational needs

  • Support and assist with supervision of daily transportation operations

Dispatcher Experience and Skills Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience in dispatching, transportation, or related operations

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment and communication systems

  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Proven ability to deliver results under time constraints and deadlines

  • Prior experience in terminal operations, scheduling, or driver management preferred

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, scheduling systems) required

  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical
