Dispatcher - Full-Time | $24/hr | New Orleans, LA

At First Student, our Dispatchers play a vital role in ensuring safe, reliable, and on-time transportation for our community. As the heartbeat of our daily operations, you'll coordinate routes, support our drivers and monitors, and uphold our company's long-standing commitment to safety and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and dispatch all bus routes to ensure on-time performance

  • Serve as the primary communication liaison with key customers

  • Provide coaching, counseling, and support to drivers and monitors

  • Handle high volumes of phone and radio communication efficiently

  • Manage scheduling issues, complaints, and operational updates

  • Assist with charter reservations, billing, payroll, and clerical tasks as needed

  • Step in as a backup driver or assist with special projects when required

  • Support the daily supervision and success of terminal operations

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of related experience (dispatch, terminal operations, or driver support preferred)

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Proficiency with computer systems and radio dispatch equipment

  • Ability to work efficiently under time-sensitive conditions

  • Must pass DOT drug testing and physical requirements (Note: per DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40, Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, are prohibited.)
